This
is basically what I think of when I think Arnold Schwarzenegger movie
(that isn't in the 'Terminator' series). Lots of 80's action and men
in khakis jumping away from explosions, very little character
development or dialogue that isn't cheesy one-liners. It's a sort of
fun, if you turn a large percentage of your brain off.
Rae
Dawn Chong does a fair job at being the cute buddy/comic relief type
figure, and Arnold is as Arnoldy as he usually is. Oh yeah, and
Alyssa Milano is also in this as his slightly irritating daughter,
weirdly.
The
actual plot is nothing to write home about - to be honest, I can't
remember most of it. Arny has his daughter kidnapped, then he goes
after the kidnappers and disposes of them one by one. It ends with a
slightly disappointing shoot-out at a big house where he faces off
against the usual ex-war buddy character. It's all pretty terrible,
really. The dumb violence and one-liners are somewhat enjoyable, but
the film's contents slips out of memory soon after viewing. I'll
probably be looking down my list in a few months and see 'Commando'
and think “what the hell is that?”
