The perfect role for Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the first big film he starred in. It's a childish fantasy set vaguely in the distant past. Arny plays a He Man-esque figure who's parents were slain by a tyrant and who then grew up turning a big wheel. He then becomes a gladiator for a while, before being inexplicably let free to go after his parent's killer. This is all covered at break-neck speed right at the start of the movie, with the wizened voice over from what turns out to be a crazed hermit.
The rest of the story slows to a crawl, with lots of pointless action and cheesy dialogue. It's everything you would expect, and it does what it does well, without being at all interesting. There's little else to say about it.
My favourite scene was where he floors a camel with a single punch.
