We can see where this is going straight away. The movie is called 'Unstoppable' and we're introduced to a train full of kids in one of the first scenes. Obviously there's a lot of tension because, you know, kids are really rare and precious. Soon a train full of explosive glue is heading towards a city with no one at the helm, and the two protagonists are setting out to single-handedly stop a catastrophe that will assuredly be both explosive and sticky.
Randy from 'My Name is Earl' is in this, playing an incompetent train driver called Dooey - what an unfortunate name. I'm not particularly fond of any of the main characters, though I kind of like Ned; he has a pony tail, a pick up, and seems cool.
The acting is OK, though the getting to know each other scenes don't work perfectly. The two lead's chemistry is believable, but the script is often too awkward for it to work. The action is alright, but it's rarely seen, and the movie as a whole seems full of filler. The premise is alright, but it could have been a 45 minute drama. Lots of the action scenes (the helicopter stunt-turned explosion, the failed portable de-railer, the 'Blues Brothers' police cars etc.) could have been missed out, and seemed contrived. I also could have done without learning all about their families.
