Wow,
that was a stupid. 'Friends with Benefits' manages to be both dumb and
boring, and to take the occasional and unearned swipe at the genre to
which it belongs. Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake play Barbie and
Ken, who decide to be sexy friends and end up - shocker - in a
relationship. It's such predictable drivel that even my mild crush on
Kunis can't save it (she does alright here, but is paired up with
Timberlake, who I think should have learnt his lesson by now that he
cannot act).
I
have a smouldering dislike of the entire romance genre anyway, so
maybe I'm being unfair here, but this truly did feel like a huge
shallow, run of the mill waste of time to me. The fast jokey dialogue
does its best to hide it, but this movie has no heart or soul (which
I'm told is important).
