The Adjustment Bureau

So this is kind of a human vs destiny movie. It has a lot of thriller and (a surprising amount of) romantic elements, and it stars Matt Damon Matt Damon Matt Damon as a guy trying to find love against the will of magical corporate angles who want to control everything.
So as I sort of alluded to in my brackets, I was surprised by the amount of romance in this. To be honest if I had known I might not have bothered watching it (all the promotional stuff for it leant heavily on the thriller aspects), though I'm glad that I did (I mean I think I watched it on TV (back when I lived in a house with a TV), but whatever), because the chemistry was pretty great. The two were really nice together, and I like each of their characters. I mean I'm mostly thinking of the woman, played by Emily Blunt, who was awesome, but Matt Damon was adequate too (I don't dislike Damon or anything, but the amount of work he gets sort of surprises me. Like I bet he's a way better actor than I would be, but I wouldn't really call him world class or anything).

The thriller elements were fair if kind of bland. It was a well made and acted film, and the cinematography was good and occasionally great, but none of it was particularly memorable.
I liked the small amount of exposition about the angel people having relinquished control for a while (the dark ages) but then being like “nope you guys can't handle your shit” and taking it back. I also liked the 'Monsters Inc' mechanics of travelling through doors magically when you're wearing one of their magical angel hats.
