God do I hate kids.
Movies are almost
always ruined when they start pandering to them, and the 'RoboCop'
series is no exception. It's not totally ruined yet, but one of the
main villains is a child.
The violence is also
somewhat toned down – no guy getting literally shot to pieces or
melting in this one, and in the most potentially gross scenes the
camera isn't on the gore for long. I'm not that into gore for the
sake of it, but I think it's absence here takes some of the feeling
of the original. There are still the usual cutaways to adverts etc.
and the world isn't totally ruined, but this film is little more than
a slightly less effective re-tread of the original.
There's still the third
one, which I suppose I should talk about, but the franchise has
basically lost it's spark at this point.
