Damien: Omen II

Here I go again on my own, goin' down the only road I've ever known - oh, but he has a brother now. I was expecting him to have been adopted by the president, but apparently the dad from the last movie had a brother, who has a son, so now there's a whole new family to be killed off - yay!
Right away the soundtrack is similar to the first movie, but there's even more squelchy techno, and it's even more amusing/embarrassing. The score overall is similar, though it holds off on repeating the classic bit from the first movie until right at the end.

Damien is a tweenager now, and so has become more annoying. He's going to military school, and is still surrounded by secret devil worshipers. Also, he's best friends with his sometime cousin, now his brother (Hamlet reference, thankyouverymuch). The usual plot thinness is, if anything, even more pronounced in this movie than in it's predecessor. The two kids turn on each other ridiculously quickly, and the cousin/brother goes from overhearing about Damien being even to confronting him in the woods almost instantaneously. This is a little weird, as they've apparently grown up together and are best buddies.
Some of the deaths were even dumber than in 'The Omen' too, particularly those stupid crow deaths. The crow was just overused in this one, I think the black dogs in the first movie were more effective. I hope the third movie ends with that whole end of the world thing that the bible goes on about, but I might not get around to watching it, as this series seems to be goes on an increasingly downhill slope.
