The actual crazies aren't crazy for a while, as this movie is a slow starter. It's a remake too, but unfortunately I haven't seen the original. The set up is mostly showing us that our characters live in a of cute little town where everyone knows each other. You know, the kind that makes me throw up in my mouth?
So they're living there, and people start acting crazy. It turns out to be because of a engineered bug that went down with a government plane in a lake, and then leaked out into the towns water. The shady government elements step in more quickly than expected. I thought they would be waiting until serious shit went down and then just tidy up whatever mess was still walking about and cover the whole thing up. They mess up pretty quickly though, and resort to bombs by the end of the film. The scenes of destruction are an interesting addition, though.

You so crazay. |
The main selling point of this movie are the sickness effects. In the later stages of infection, the veins become prominent and the eyes grow bloodshot. It looks very real, and added to the jerky movements and odd behaviour (killing sprees fall under odd behaviour here) the resulting effect is truly scary.
The characters, however, are 2D, and the acting isn't great. I didn't really care about what happened to them, and at times I found myself loosing interest.
